A Recommendation of Experience, and a Note on Survival of the Mind【POETRY】

A Recommendation of Experience, and a Note on Survival of the Mind

I wake up awake,
fire and black snakes of death and squeezing pressure
all around me, thoughts cutting thoughts short
to make room for themselves, only to die moments later to another.
Selfish beings, they are. Why are they here?

I said I wake up awake, no?
Now the past may act fast but
it did bring the present
…or at least the general present…
And that present heals me.

I wake up awake. Healing slowly, painfully.
Perhaps it is the same principal of
bringing that certain past to act fast.
Though this new past is new
and that old past old,
And like a monarchy
that thought does not cut the other short.
It embraces it, does not rid itself of it,
Yet fades it down not onto the backburner
but the backcooler. Healing slowly now.

The previous present speaks to me words I
Could not fully hear, but could fully calm.
Relativising itself into the newest present,
bringing me the present of presence.
Presence of myself, of my mind (the good and bad).
I recreate myself from the previous present, following calm instructions.
And I land. And it makes me smile.
I fall asleep, Awake.
